This hotel is highly lauded for its superior location and helpful staff, making it an excellent choice for conference goers and tourists looking for walkability. However, the property suffers from a lack of practical oversight; guests frequently report broken amenities (like the elevators), threats to personal safety (theft and inadequate security), and inconsistent housekeeping standards. There is a notable mismatch between the brand promise and the reality of the room's dated condition and thin partial blackout shades.

I stayed here while attending a conference across the street, and I was very happy with my stay. The front desk person was so helpful when I checked in! Then the room was clean and in good shape. The gym (there are 2!) was empty and the machines worked. The breakfast was well stocked and kept clean. The laundry room was also in good shape, and the front desk was able to get me quarters to use it. Overall a great hotel experience, and I would certainly stay here again!

Very old and simple hotel with negligent housekeeping. I paid $1400 for 3 nights for a conference nearby, but the hotel is $100/night at best. Expect a bed and not much else. The light will also seep through early morning through the presumably black out shades because they have holes and openings on the side. First day - my room wasn’t cleaned. I thought ok, maybe because I left the room around 1:00 pm and they missed it. Second morning, I asked the housekeeping right in front of my room to clean it while I was leaving, she said No and moved away. Maybe she didn’t understand me. I instructed the reception that my room wasn’t cleaned yesterday and to please have it cleaned now. They asked if I had a do not disturb sign; I did not. 5 hrs later, no cleaning was done; trash and wet towels piling up. And they told me housekeeping already left for the day. That’s unacceptable. Even if the hotel was priced at a fraction, at minimum I expect my trash to be taken after I specifically asked two different persons for it. Look elsewhere.

Booked this hotel for my son and I. We got in late at 10pm and I lost my ID. I gave them my confirmation number and had my husband send me a picture of my passport from home and THEY STILL DENIED ME ACCESS! They would not let us stay even though we already paid and reserved the room. My little 6 year old son was so frightened. Terrible service to deny a little boy a place to sleep that was paid for and with confirmation. NEVER booking with you again. Manager was unhelpful and my husband even tried to call and explain how I lost my ID. Unbelievable.

Travelers beware. Currently staying two nights here. Our room did not have functional heating and the front desk was unable to get it working. Offered to downgrade our room and comp the days parking fee. Absolutely unacceptable. Two fitness centers on site. Out of 6 cardio equipment options only two in each of the fitness rooms actually had power and were working. Called the front desk. Was told "they should be working" like I'm not standing here looking at them telling you they are not. Obviously many things in this otherwise nice hotel are being overlooked with a lack of care or even checks. Spend your money somewhere else. There are many other hotel options in downtown Salt Lake City that seem to have their act together.

Chavonne at the the front desk was amazing. She was kind and super helpful. The cleaning staff was amazing. Everything stayed super clean. I saw the cleaning staff constantly mopping the lobby floor and wiping the elevator doors. I’ve never seen a cleaning staff work so hard. Our room was super clean. Location was super convenient to everything. Town was safe and walkable (except for it being so cold). Uber comes in handy for keeping you warm as you move about SLC in the winter. Breakfast was really good with a large variety of everything you could need. There’s also a restaurant on site if you don’t want to go out in the cold. The pool and hot tub were very warm. The sauna was closed.

I’m a loyal Holiday Inn Express guest, which makes this experience all the more disappointing. This location has cut corners in ways that fundamentally compromise the guest experience. The beds are unacceptably uncomfortable. I’m not exaggerating when I say these felt like the cheapest mattresses available. I think they bought them for $30 at Walmart. I woke up multiple times with numb shoulders and a sore back. In a hotel, the bed is everything—and these failed completely. The room setup is cheap. There’s one bedside table between two beds. One. Do they think only one person per room needs to charge their phone? It’s such an obvious corner-cut. Breakfast was shockingly poor. What’s normally a highlight of this chain was reduced to burnt eggs and toast. No exaggeration. That was the entire offering. For a brand that prides itself on breakfast, this was embarrassing. Service was virtually nonexistent. At 8:30 PM, I called requesting a comforter for my kids. By 10:15 PM it finally arrived but it wasn’t a comforter, it was a bed pad. Couldn’t even bring us the right thing. What exactly prevents delivering a blanket in almost 2 hours at a half-empty hotel? This location is trading on the Holiday Inn Express name while delivering none of what makes the brand reliable. Do yourself a favor and choose literally any other hotel.

Selected this property for proximity to airport after having finished touring the 5 national parks. Wanted to spend a day and a half in the city to see what they have to offer. Clean, comfortable and conveniently located to many restaurants and stores. Breakfast was nice and well stocked. Didn’t patronize the attached restaurant, but asked some folks and they approved. Parking, while paid, was very convenient. Did a city tour and they picked up and dropped off right at the hotel. Super friendly staff. Stay on the 6th floor and loved the view. Decently priced for “downtown”. Would recommend.

It was so convenient to the Salt Palace and within 2 blocks of a lot of good places to eat! -The room was spacious and clean. -There was plenty of room for suitcases to be set out. -Lots and lots of convenient outlets! - The pool was nice and I appreciated it being inside. I wouldn't have wanted to sit and watch my 11 y.o. swim if it required me to sit in 90+ degrees! -Breakfast had variety and had some gluten free options and soy milk available! -Front desk staff was really nice and helpful. -Lots of area in the lobby for groups to convene/eat together. The mehs: -TV was a "dumb" TV (but there are other things to do around!) -Bed was definitely on the harder side -Would probably have been more noise from surrounding rooms and outside of a/c hadnt been running. I would definitely pick there to stay if I had something near by! All of the above and the price was reasonable compared to neighbor locations.

We often time stay at this hotel when we are in town for a convention. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Salt Lake City Convention Center. Staff are always very kind and welcoming, breakfast is adequate, rooms are clean, beds and pillows very very comfortable. Anyone looking to stay in this beautiful city should stay here.

We stayed here recently for 2 weeknights and absolutely loved our experience! The staff is incredibly nice in the helpful and they will even hold your bags if you arrive early. They gave us early check in and because we are IHG platinum elite, we were given a room upgrade with no questions asked. we stayed in room 1216 and it was huge and had tons of space and a full size fridge. The views were amazing and the bed was ridiculously comfortable. Body, wash shampoo and conditioner and everything were provided. The room temperature was very comfortable and easy to maneuver. Elevators were fast and chicken was fast as well. There's a little bar downstairs where you can work and plug in, if your room is not ready yet. The breakfast was delicious and it was free! The location is incredible, it's just steps away from the trax and the main center of downtown! Right across from the convention center as well! Highly highly highly recommend this hotel! Excellent for the value.
