The Park Inn by Radisson Salt Lake City Midvale receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the location and helpful staff like Annie, while others report cleanliness issues, outdated facilities, and unpleasant odors. Breakfast is considered underwhelming by some. Value is a point of contention, with some finding it reasonable for the price while others feel it's overpriced for the condition.
The front desk people were nice, Annie was one of them. One of the guys was funny too. Good people. However, the breakfast here is pretty underwhelming and not nutritious. It’s just a bunch of carbs with muffins, donuts, waffles, and toast, and apples. I was expecting tea packets and a source of protein like eggs or bacon, but we didn’t get it. Not saying it’s terrible, but definitely not my preference, so I would keep that in mind. Also, our room wasn’t all the way clean. The beds were clean. But there were a couple of pieces of hair in the shower and a piece of string/floss as well. So I was a bit weary to use the shower, but I did anyway. The location was cool. We’re next to a lot of gas stations and a couple of diners, so we ate well.
I am currently staying in this hotel. Arrive yesterday, for my dental appointment and leaving tomorrow, 2/27th. Location and room is ok for its rate. Breakfast is good as well. Breakfast attendant (I forgot her name) is very respectful and kind. She keeps refilling the station making sure guests will have enough food. I love I.Khan for her big smile from day 1. She is very hospitable and accommodating. I will recommend and will come back.
Hotel was probably nice once upon a time but it is no longer that way. Room was probably not cleaned. If the sheets had been washed it would surprise me. The whole building has a strong unpleasant odor. I only stayed here because all hotels in salt lake were booked for some reason and I needed a room last minute. Now I know why they were full. Would never recommend.
Not like the doctored pictures. Rooms were run down. First night there were several police at the hotel. Walls are thin and you can hear everything in other rooms and hallways. Definitely not a 3star as other people rated it. You’re better off staying at a motel 6.
My initial assessment indicates that the accommodations, while commensurate with the price point, presented several areas for improvement. Specifically, the refrigeration unit exhibited suboptimal performance, and the heating system was found to be circulating cool air. Regarding amenities, the absence of body soap was noted, with only a single wall-mounted shampoo dispenser provided. A small bar of soap was available, but without a suitable receptacle for its placement, suggesting a potential oversight in basic provisions. The towels appeared to be significantly aged, raising concerns about their replacement cycle. A request for room service, specifically for trash removal and towel replacement, was submitted. Despite following the prescribed procedure for early morning requests prior to departure, these services were not rendered upon our return in the evening. While acknowledging that this establishment does not aspire to a four or five-star rating, I would hesitate to classify it even as a two-star motel. My extensive travel experience, encompassing numerous accommodations, has not previously encountered such a level of service within the Choice Hotels portfolio. For instance, Quality Inn properties have consistently provided a superior guest experience. Further issues included a bathtub lacking a functional stopper, a showerhead exhibiting significant calcium buildup, and a loose toilet seat. These observations lead me to surmise that this particular property may represent the lower end of the Choice Hotels spectrum, potentially operating under significant budgetary constraints that impact even minor service details. Consequently, I will not be considering this establishment for future stays.
I have stayed at this hotel three times and would give it 3.5 stars, having only encountered one issue which was resolved fairly quickly. The hotel has few frills but the rooms provided what I needed. The two biggest advantages are the reasonable prices and convenient location right off I-15. The included breakfast lacks variety but there are multiple restaurants nearby offering better choices.
Right off the heat was not on in the room, so when we came in about 9:30pm it was freezing cold in the room. State of the hotel led to a bed check, bed was fine, clean. I could hear the neighboring room fighting all night to the point I had to get up and leave at like 5am. There’s just a bottle of shampoo in the shower, no conditioner. The parking is limited, and the location is sketchy. I booked this room through Hotwire and it was a blind book 3 star.. absolutely told Hotwire as well. Room seemed fairly clean, just old.
I came into town from Oregon to begin treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and by the time I arrived at the hotel I was completely exhausted — emotionally and physically. The woman at the front desk was incredibly patient and calm, even when my card started giving me all kinds of issues. I thought the room had already been charged, but it needed on-site authorization, and then my bank flagged the transaction and the deposit. She stayed kind and understanding the entire time while I sorted it out. I was also traveling with my service animal, and I really appreciated that she took the time to walk me through the policy instead of just handing me a form to sign. She made sure I understood everything so there wouldn’t be any surprise charges — something most hotels rush through. A lot of people have mentioned the staff being “quiet,” but honestly, they were polite, respectful, and not overly chatty — which I actually appreciated after a long, stressful day. Not everyone wants small talk at 10 PM. I had a small issue with my room — the door wasn’t locking properly and a USB charger on the lamps werent working. I mentioned it to the front desk, and maintenance fixed the door immediately and started working on the USB port before I even checked out. For a large chain hotel, that level of responsiveness is impressive. I also loved the fact that they had a working hot tub because it was starting to get cold in Utah. The staff also held onto my DoorDash delivery for me, which gave me peace of mind since I was too tired to deal with delivery complications. Overall, this hotel made a very difficult night much easier. Clean room, kind staff, fast maintenance. If I could give more than five stars, I would.
So I gave them 3 stars just because the rooms weren’t TERRIBLE. They were do able for the 3 nights we stayed there the beds we’re pretty comfortable. The pillows could’ve been a little bit more comfortable, but the room was spacious and had a lot of storage to unpack your clothes. The location is right next to the highway so it was really easy till I get anywhere and most places we were going were about a 15 to 20 minute drive. This reason I gave a one star to the service was due to when I checked in the guy was not friendly at all he barely said any words to me just said that I needed to give him my license and my credit card. I saw there was a sign on the front desk that said something about parking in the back and you can’t park in the front otherwise you will get towed he didn’t mention it at all. I had to bring it up and I said well I parked out front, is that OK for now and he said yeah I said, but I have to park in the back and he said yes. Apparently there was also a car registration paper so that they know what cars are supposed to be there. He never mentioned it and never gave it to me. I saw it when I was checking out and so I was a little pissed about that as well. The other issue that I had was the TV and from the photo you could see that the color was off. It was like a pink tint and had no volume. So I told the lady at the front desk the first night and she came up to check it and said oh you’re gonna need a new TV we told her that we’re only here for two more nights so we don’t really care about getting a new TV so it’s fine but we just wanted to let them know. She said OK and left the next day we were sleeping in because we were out late and maintenance came and knocked on the door. We had no idea that they were even coming my friend. She answered the door after a minute or two and maintenance was gone so they barely even waited And then three hours later we got a phone call to the room and the lady was so rude she said you didn’t answer the door for maintenance and I said we were sleeping. We did not know that they were coming otherwise we would have been up waiting. She said can they come up now and I said well we don’t need the TV as we said yesterday since we’re checking out early tomorrow morning, and she said word for word “OK then do not complain later” I was speechless at this type of customer service where somebody would say that to a paying guest. I can complain as much as I would like if something is wrong and not working I also said twice that we do not need it anymore. We are checking out. We just wanted to make sure you knew that the TV was broken on arrival. I was appalled at her attitude and the way she spoke to me I have never in my life had a customer service representative speak to me that way when we were being nice about issues with my stay. Also the curtain thing was falling off the ceiling it was just not a good look but I was going to overlook it since the room wasn’t terrible for the price, but it could have been better. They need to get employees who actually care about providing good customer service.
The staff was pleasant, and the lobby was welcoming. However, our room experience was highly disappointing, and given the high price we paid, the quality was unacceptable. The parking and location are run down. Everyone has to park in the back of the hotel or be towed. Trust me, the pictures make it look better than it really is. ?Upon entering, we were hit with an overpowering odor of chemical cleaners that was strong enough to cause headaches. The bathroom was not properly cleaned; specifically, there was hair from previous guests in the bathtub. ?The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The mattress felt old and hard, making it the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in. I had to resort to putting a couch cushion on the mattress just to attempt to get some sleep. Beyond comfort, the room itself was in poor condition, with chipped paint on the walls. ?Noise was a major issue. The walls offer zero soundproofing, and our proximity to the main exit door meant we were constantly disturbed by loud foot traffic and doors slamming throughout the night. This combination of discomfort and noise made for a truly miserable night's sleep. ?To top it off, the complimentary breakfast was below average compared to what we've experienced at similar hotels. This hotel is an overpriced motel! It's not worth the money they are charging. ?Save yourself the headaches, disappointment, and a crappy night's sleep—upgrade and go somewhere else.
